BAPTISM

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is one way we follow Jesus. Many people speak of baptism as being an outward sign of an inward change. It is a public display of your belief in Jesus and declares your desire to follow him.

WHY BE BAPTIZED?

Jesus Commands Us to be Baptized. Jesus told his followers to make other followers of Jesus and to baptize them (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism is an act of obedience to Jesus. It is a public way to show that you have decided to follow him.

Being Baptized is Following the Example of Jesus. Christians are instructed to follow and do the things Jesus did (1 John 2:6, 1 Peter 2:21).

Baptism is a Testimony. You publicly identify with Jesus' life, death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-5). You declare that you no longer live to please yourself, but to please God. Your baptism is one way you can share the Gospel with others.

Baptism Unites Christians. Being baptized is a witness to other Christians that you are a part of the Church, the body of Christ. You join Christians throughout time and across the world by declaring your allegiance to Jesus.

Baptism Can Build Your Faith. Baptism is an act of commitment to Jesus. It is an important day in your life, much like the time you decided to follow Jesus.
